327 plugs ???
Hey folks was wondering if someone can help me out? My 327 is not running right, this is a fresh motor and was running great at initial start up,but now it's fouling plugs for some reason. has holly 650 double pumper, bored .30 over with 64cc heads, the car ran great at first but started running rich, pulled the splitfire plugs and most of them were soaked ,so it was not running on all 8,the distributor is an accell dual point with a pertronix electronic conversion.I was wondering since the plugs were set up for a points system if the spark isn't hot enough to fire all the fuel?? was wondering what you guys might use for plugs or any recommendations for a fix?
Regards,
Terry

Have you verified that the carb is adjusted properly? Correct float level and so forth?

No, just bolted it up right out of the box and it ran great for awhile.

I could be way off and have not heard any of the details just a very common symptom of flat cam that can go away in 5 min. or less on start up. Probably wrong if nothing in pre-filter or no noisey valve train, all pushrods spinning on idle and compression test shows great with no variation from cyl. to cyl.
Way too rich on carb, pull vac hose to brake booster for huge leak installed, if rpm goes up by about 2/300 then it will lean it out to confirm. Other check would be to look at ignition for this kinda problem. is the color from a plug stuck in a removed wire neon blue spark? Should be neon blue.
If it is a yellow or red/orange then the fault is ignition=== yellow is condensor or saturation fault and orange is coil...... All the wires do not go bad at once so not a wire. MSD or the like will be on/off problem many times. Let me knowJeff C.

got it all taken care of,I was doing some carb adjustments and happened to touch the armor shielded moroso wires and needless to say I found part of the problem the hard way, seems voltage was crossing over the wires and shorting out,I picked up a new set of 8mm wires with out the shielding and tossed the splitfires I had put in the motor and put a set of NGK plugs in it which solved the problem, car runs great!! Took it out the other day for the first time in 15 years and was in my glory!!
