fuel pump
not really a hot rod question. but I'm looking at helping someone put a pump in a 97 S-10 Blazer. Anyone ever do this? how big of a pain is it? What all needs to be done as far as removing major parts of the vehicle?

i would but the library is closed now, I'm leaving in two hours to work on it and I refuse to buy a book for a job I'm not even going to get paid for. I told them they'd be less headaches ahead by taking it somewhere versus doing it ourselves in a driveway. Especially if it's 4wd it seems anything 4wd sucks. I don't know if the tank is in the back and rear end has to come down like my firebird. or if it's completely in the back and will clear the differential. or if it's in the middle like some dodges and have to drop everything from the transfer case back.

you'll need more money than time. drop the gas tank and remove the pump its not that bad, but a new pump is about 300.00 its under the truck mid. way left hand side. on a 2 wheel drive you have to drop the driveshaft.Last edited by lt1s10; 11-26-2005 at 09:38 AM.

thank you very much. they already have the pump. so maybe it'll be a not so bad job after all. Sometime this winter I'm looking at replacing the sending unit in my firebird and been reading up on that and getting ready for it. Not something I'm looking forward to, thanks a lot

wasn't so bad. biggest thing was getting the filler tube broke loose. We didn't get to finish it. the nipple on whatever that thing is at the left front of the tank broke off when the take fell. So tomorrow we'll replace that doohickey and put it back up.

without the doohickey connect to the vent line what happens?

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
