    Rotating assembly

Okay, for the rebuild I'm planning on my 350, I'm going with Edelbrock Performer heads/cam kit/intake, with a Carter AFB carb. I haven't torn the engine down yet due to space restrictions I'm working on. I was told the engine only has 30K on the last rebuild. If the rotating assembly looks bad, what would Y'all recommend for a good, solid rotating assembly kit for the engine. I'm only going for around 325HP and corresponding torque, so I don't need a super tough forged crank. Just a reasonable kit for a decent rebuild.

I know there are those who will disagree with me because of the rod length, but for a down-and-dirty budget rebuild, I think it would be hard to beat the budget 383 kit from Speed-O-Motive.....

Juggle gasket thickness and deck to achieve a piston/head clearance of around 0.040". You wouldn't have to fart around with clearancing the rods at the cam either.

FOR THE MONEY THIS KIT LOOKS FINE.RICHARD HAS A VERY GOOD POINT.IT HAS TAKEN ME 20 YEARS OF ENGINE BUILDING AND COUNTLESS HOURS OF THERAPY NOT TO (OVER-BUILD) AN ENGINE.ALSO I HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO PULL THE STICK AT 8,500 R.P.M.'S. ON THE FREEWAY.OH' BY THE WAY I WAS JUST KIDDING ABOUT THE THERAPY OR WAS I?

Well, I thought about going with a 383 conversion, but I have to deal with emissions inspections here, and wasn't sure how much of a pain it would be. That's why I'm using the Edelbrock Performer package, since it is emissions certified...

There are no rules against increasing the displacement of an engine. There is no way a smog shop can tell, either.

If you decide to go with a Speed-o-motive crank kit, make sure you have the balancing rechecked. They have had issues with the accuracy of their balancing in the past--better safe than sorry. They are a good company and have been around for a long time, and their prices are quite good. The balancing is the only negative thing I have encountered from other website posters.
