350 horsepower tips
i have an 81 buick regal with a chevy 350 engine i had built but i am still not getting good acceleration from the start. i have a 650 edelbr. carb. a airgap intake and comp roller rockerarms, headers, 350 tranny with 2800 stall. i dont think im getting that much power out of it. i've done nothing to the rear end so it is still stock. what are some tips to get me more rear wheel power out of this engine.

you need to put in a taller gear......try 3.73's.....they will give you the seat of the pants feel under acceleration also what camshaft are you using........you are running a 2800 stall...can your camshaft choice support that kind of stall speed.......old habits die hard

i have a comp 292 cam 1.5 comp roller rocker arms. so will i see a whole lot of difference in my acceleration with the 3.73 gears?Im not sure what kind of exhaust is on there but its not flowmaster or anything im gonna cut off both cats and run straight pipes and get either flowmasters or magnaflow, which one is better and will this also increase my power a little

Do you know the actual compression ratio of the motor, not a guess, but the actual? That cam needs a minimum of 9.5 and would work better with 10.5. Do you have headers on the car, that cam will want headers and more gear (like 3.90 and up).
You may want to check with the local authorities about removing the cats if you have to pass smog in your locale. You're already gonna be in trouble with the cam with the IM240 check.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

man if your running cats thats awefully restrictive for a 292 cam. Up where I am from we have what is called aircare....emissions testing....mine fails but there is a loop hole that enables me to avoid being tested.......mine is not a daily driver anyways but with that cam, 9.5 min...for compression ....and i would run at leat a 2 1/2" exhaust from the headers......sounds like your combo is toooorestrictive for any flow....you also might want to consider a higher stall as well.....292 cams are made for high rpm ......definately run a 3.73 gear.......but if you are running a tire taller than 27-28" might want to consider even a 4.10 gear.....the drive train should be matched proporly from rad all the way back to the rearend in order for everything to work proporly........hope this helpsold habits die hard
