Cam For 427cid Small Block?
My current cam is a Comp Cam Hydrolic Roller 230/236 @.05 & .51/.52 lift. This combo puts down about 390 hp at the wheel. I am thinking about maybe going up a size. Crane recommended their HR-306-2s-10. They claim this is designed for stroker motors; @.05 240/248 lift .558/.558 SLA 110 and IC 105. Any input?Last edited by KJL; 12-28-2005 at 08:59 AM.

with those heads your CR is about 11.2:1, and would handle the next step up cam - although I would want a 106 duration, and lose the Air Gap for a Victor high rise.
I would also swap out those gears for a set of 410's or 488's.
I run the Comp roller 516/535 with almost the same set-up you have in my modified ( with the changes above ) running a 2 speed direct drive tranny & it runs up frontJim

The transmission is a level three from Bowtie Overdrives out of California. It is built to take 500+ Hp and loads of torque. The torque converter feels to loose though. I think a stall around 2600 would work best with a torquey stroker. I just installed the 3.73 rear. I was thinking about 4.11 but was afraid if I did not like the 2004R and put my Turbo400 back in, the car would not be driveable on the highway. I am trying to get a good balance between street and strip.
When you say it looks good, do you mean the current set up or stepping up to the Crane cam?
Thanks for yalls help!!Engine: 427 Dart Little "M" small block; AFR210 ported heads; Edelbrock RPM AirGap intake; Holley 750cfm 4150 w/Vac secondaries; 6" rods; 4" stroke; 10.5CR; CompCam Hydrolic Roller XR-282HR-10 230/236 @ .05 & .510/.520 lift DRIVELINE: 2004R w/3200 stall; 3.73 rear gear

Thanks for yalls help!! [/QU You would have to go to a higher stall if you went with the other cam and more gear.
And a Happy Birthday Wish for Mr. Spears. Hope you can have a great one. :)
