Question Suburban to a Chevelle ??

Greetings all ! Been away a while, but getting back when I can. Quick question; a buddy of mine wants to drop a 350 into his 1971 Chevelle (Originally a 307). Said he found one, but will it work ? The guy he's buying it from (plans to, that is) says it came out of a mid 80's Chevy Suburban, runs good, and about 70k miles on it. The only numbers he said he found (not exactly mechanically inclined) were "in the back, near the bellhousing", and they were (the GM Logo) 5.7L (350) G SGI. He's going back this weekend to hear it run, and get the numbers off the heads, etc., but should he even bother ? Price of $300.
Thanks all in advance, boy, I've missed this site !

Hey king, seems like a no brainer to me. a sbc for a sbc. Your buddy should enjoy a little more seat-of-the-pants-o-meter feeling.
Objects in my rear view mirror are a good thing unless,.... they have red and blue lights flashing.

$300 for a good running 350 sounds like a good deal to me!
Even better if it has all the extras, carb, dist, alt.
TEAMWORK is essential, it allows you to blame someone else!
