305 heads on a 350
I just purchased a car with a heck of a water problem. The previous owner said it had a 350. I pulled the heads to check the head gasket and heads and the gaskets appeared to be alright. I did noticed that the holes for the water didn't quite match up with the gasket. I checked the numbers on the block and on the heads and discovered the heads were for a 305 and the block was a 350. Could this be the cause of the watered down oil? There also was no seal on the front and back of the intake. Thanks in advance!

They will put 305 heads on 350's, won't they? Small valves, small ports and light castings. Junk. You probably have one or more cracks in one or both heads. Chuck 'em. They're no good on a 305.

I don't think it's the heads, 305 heads are a bolt on for a 350, even though they don't flow well enough. maby the heads are cracked or wrong gasket. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

I'm leaning towards the wrong gaskets. Judging by the wire nuts use on the wiring I don't think the last owner had a clue.. I have a set of good 350 heads which I'm going to slap on there.
PS I really dig your Falcon.

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
