    starter brace

does anybody here have any pictures of how they braced their starter? I broke the ear on the passenger side of the block off and can not take the engine out to repair it. I would be willing to do whatever I need to with the bracing to make the repair reliable. Thank you!

You really need to pull it to fix it right. Other than that, a custom bracket is all you can do. There are some brackets but nothing that would fix that. Do you still have the ear to fix it? Maybe you could weld it back on. Check out this link

www.aluminumrepair.com Click on cast iron at the top and see if it may work in your case. It worked for me on a head that was leaking coolant. No machine shop. I ground it out some and filled it back in. Then smoothed it out with a pencil grinder.
