thats your way. my to me 375 motor doesnt need to be magnafluxed as you arent going to have to bore it over very much. and use regular heads with cheapo valves to get 375 hp. 375 hp is not a PERFORMANCE balls to the walls build!!!! it hink youve been doing stuff the expensive way for way to long and forget that cheap motor builds do in fact STILL EXIST.Last edited by gassersrule_196; 02-12-2006 at 06:53 PM.

Everything you say may or may not be necessary which would obviously affect the cost and whether you have the shop assemble or you do it yourself. I rebuilt the 318 in my Duster a couple of years ago and it set me back about $1200, but part of that was a new intake and carb and that was also counting the timing chain, cam and all of the gaskets.

yes not to mag something is a good way to eat a job and as far as a cheap job all new machine work wash block and parts bore hone deck re con rods hang the rods cam bearings plug s 3 angle valve job new guids cut heads and master engine kit and to long block off the top of my head $1700 were you want to cut the corners is up to you but this would be the best way to go

well i guess if we're talking about going into the shed and digging out all of our old used parts and throwing a motor together it could be a maypop for around $1000.00. It most likely won't make no where near the 500 h.p mark are last to go around the block.
This was not what this post was about. it was directed at the average engine builder to start by sourcing quality parts and building a cheaper engine from scratch to make reliable, streetable, long lasting small block chevy.
If you could build a 283 to make 500 h.p and hold together you really did not need to read this post, IT WAS NOT FOR YOU!!! do the search of the forum and you will see that i built a high h.p. 283 it had nothing for torque but it would run after 4000rpm. I replaced it as quick as i could with a 383.RAY

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
