Thanks Pat, you made my point for me.... A small block has no place in either a 4000 pound car or a 49' boat. And that was my point. You do not need a 4000 pound car or a 49' boat to go fast.

I've ran big blocks, small blocks, and everything in between. What I do know is that a small cubic inch motor (400 CI or less) in a light weight car 2800 pounds or less) is cheaper to build and less costly to maintain the a 600" motor in a 4000 pound car!!!!

As far as your big block boat, come on out to the Missouri River down around Gavins Point Dam on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and you can see all the 75 mph small block powered boats you would care to see.

I would contend that if you have never seen small block motors go fast, then you haven't spent much time looking......
