    bigger is not always better

hi guys, if you look at my post :another cam question: youll see i was being hard headed and wanted a cam that my motor couldnt handle. i purchased a desk top dyno from comp cams, and set here and dyno alot of cam shafts from all manufactures.and i stayed on the 220 to 230 @.050 size the cam that made the most torque and hp was the voodoo 268
    369hp@5000
    429 t @4000
well thats not true the extreme energy made 10 more hp but not the torque of the voodoo. so i decided to listen to every one at C.H. and test some smaller cams with the same engine combo.
voodoo prt #60101 112 ls 108 cl 454 468 213 219 made some kick ass hp and torque
    380 hp@5500
    396 t@4500
even at the bottom end were all the pull is
    voodoo60101
    115hp@2000
    303 t@2000
    voodoo60103
    87hp@2000
    228t@2000
guess wich cam im using?" it says perfect street rod cam noticable idle. with those numbers and an otherwise stock motor,i should be able to melt the tires.comp cams says there dyno is within 5 percent accurate
the ponly thing im concerned with is 373 geares do you think there to much? i have a set of 342 on the shelf if need be
the extreme energy 268 didnt even come close to these numbers IMO for my application

dont worry bout the 3.73 gears, those are the perfect size for street use, they're well balanced, get you more of a launch while still keeping freeway driveability possible
just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

How about just save up a few more $$$$ and get an overdrive trans????? Then you can have a good gear to get moving and a good gear for top end....
