327 build
i started my engine class today and i will be rebuilding my 327 for my 67' tahiti jet boat. its all original so im definitely using the 327, i know its not many cubes but its what i have to work with haha. what im looking for now is a good engine kit and a good cam. it is a jet boat so i dont need that much power down low, but my rpm's will never make it over 5500 rpm...if im lucky. the engine will be ran between 3000-5500 all day long so i want a real good engine kit to make it last. i havnt learned everything about cam specs yet...but i would like it to have an ass load of power between 4500-5500 rpm haha....and decent power between 3000-4000 rpm. i do have one question.....take 2 cams, ones power band 2000-6000 and the others 3000-7000...which one would produce the most power between 4500-500 rpm?

i think you need TQ i work at a boat yard mostly sten drives and you will need a cam that makes lot of low end mild range how about a new intake heads and a small roller cam?

get a smaller roller cam like one that makes power between 1300-5500 that'll be just about perfect for you, and it'll wind up nice and quick.... its going to be a lil more money and a little more work, but it'll be worth itjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

my dad has a boat with an inboard/outboard prop, ive been told that boats with props need a lot of torque to get the prop moving. but in the case of a jet boat it revs to its max rpm instantly and you want to build your power for that max rpm. thats why a lot of jet boats run tunnel ram intakes, to get as much top end horsepower as possible. now i know 5000-5500 rpm isnt really that high...thats why im confused on which cam to get...teh cam in my charger is build for 2200-6200 rpm and it pulls hard above 3000 rpm so maybe i should be looking for a cam in that area? even with the 327 worn out it would rev to 2800 rpm with very little throttle.

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
