Quench Revisited - For Techinsp
Hey Tech,
We've talked alot about quench before but I have a question for you.
If we set piston to head clearance at say .040", but then relieve/increase the piston (dish) and/or head chamber size to set suitable copression ratio, have we not then in effect decreased quench since we have lowered the piston dish top and/or possibly raised the combustion chamber roof?

On any closed chamber head, there is a flat surface adjacent to the chamber dish that mates up with a flat surface on the piston crown on a flat-top piston. If you have to increase cc's to lower compression ratio, you would use a dished piston like this that has a D-shaped dish so that you still have a flat spot on the crown to come up against the bottom of the head......
