    easier starting

i have a 69 impala with a 327 in it. i recently had the engine rebuilt and put all new accessories on it. it had a 2bbl on it initially but i put an intake from a 350 4bbl and a quadrajet on it. i put a msd blaster 2 coil on it, a high performance fuel pump and a new starter. i was wondering if there is a way i could get the engine to start easier and faster than it does now. it usually takes holding the key in the start position for 10 secs or so and giving it a little gas numerous time before it will even sound like it wants to start. is there something that i could do? will a HEI distributor or MSD ignition help?

Are you getting a full 12 volts at the coil from the starter circuit?

Looks like you're getting the 9 volts to the coil ok.

    Are your points set correctly?
A closed down set of points will make an engine tough to start.

    Is it cranking easily?

You might have a bit too much advance on the timing.

Is the choke set properly on the carb? Electric? Manual? None?
