Thread: 2.02 valves in 1.94 heads...

this guy i was talking to that "owns a shop" told me i could put 2.02 valves in 1.94 heads w/o any modification. is this true? and if not what do i need to do to swap in these valves?

you will need to do some seat work on the heads if not why put them in? they will not work any better if not open up

yup, bigger valves even with flow work have proven to not always increase performance, because that increases the surface area and weight of the valve, which means, that the cam has to work harder to open up the valve, the springs need to be a little heavier to return the valve, and blah blah blah...

right right. can the seat work be done at home?

you could do the seat work at home, but i'd rather take it to a shop, if your stip the heads and just have them do the seat work, it shouldn't cost more than $2 a seat and probably around another $35 for the labor

the seat work needs to be done with a seat and guilde machine or with stones or cutters and when you get it done you may want to do a bowl job and blend the 60 this takes time and money and one slip can cost you or junk the head .so you can not do the seat work less you have a seat and guilde machine or seat grinder ,if you have not done this work before work on some junk heads . or you can turn good heads to junk cutting out the heads is about $60to $80 for 8 valves
