I have to go against the WD40 also. It washes off all the good oil and then dries the cylinder out completely. Go with regular motor oil and then roll it over. Backing off the valves is a great idea. Another word of advice is don't start that engine until you are ready to start driving. Starting it in the garage and just letting it run for a little bit will promote rust in the cylinders. Complete combustion=water. Leave it sit dead with oil in the cylinders and roll it a quarter turn every now and then. That will keep the rings and cylinders from trying to become one unit.RAY
