....yep, a 327 Block & a 283 crank is 301.75 cu. in.
327 has a; 4.001 bore & 3.25 stroke
283 has a; 3.875 bore & 3.0 stroke
bore x bore x stroke x .7854 x number of cylinders = cu. inches
So, 4.001 x 4.001 = 16.008
16.008 x 3.0 = 48.024
48.024 x .7854 = 37.718
37.718 x 8 = 301.75 cu. in........

Couple things to consider, they made both a large journal and a small journal 327 crankshaft. Make sure the 327 block you use is a small journal block. The 283 main journals and 327 small journal mains are the same size.
Far as I know, the factory never made a 4 bolt 327 block....... the chebbie guys should be along here shortly.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

The 283 crank only came with the small main journals, so you would have to obtain a small journal 327 block. Your going to need some good stout connecting rods and cylinder heads with large valves with strong springs and a cam that is suited for the 302.
I'd opt for a solid lifter cam because the 302 was made to obtain high rpms very quickly!
My best friend in high school had a new 69 Z28 that we drove the wee out of, nothing bets the sound of the 302 whining thru the gears on a four speed!!
