Ok....so here's a feeble attempt to get back on the topic of the thread.
I understand your desire to build a motor to wind up and take the 10 grand; but, since you're both building small blocks and are following those build constraints..... I think you're in a bit of trouble. If it was a big block, I'd say you have a shot due to the price constraints and the fact that it costs more to build a big block; but, then no NOS is really gonna hurt you.
You could always try the infamous banana in the tail pipe trick coined so popularly in that movie Beverly Hills Cop...
Good luck to you though.

Anyway, why the heck does it matter?? I don't see how you can check for .100 clearance with a piece of .004 plastigage either. Does that mean I'm a smarta**? No, it means I don't understand your method. that's all. If there's something else there, then it's something that someone read into it, not the words that were written.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Well, this thing will get straightened out about as quick as the flippin' national debt gets paid off.
Everybody can rationalize and justify all they want. Soon as somebody can convince me that it will make my Pickemup,Ranchero, Roadster, or whatever other projects I've got laying around look better, go faster, or get done sooner I'll join in. If it's gonna be a thread about personalities or he said, they said, imo it belongs in the lounge and best left off the real issues threads. I'm all for it, if anybody else is, fine. If not, that's fine too. For now I'm back to searching for a 4 bar axle for the roadster and specing out the rear axle housing for the Ranchero....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
