87+intake on older heads
Im in the process of buying a TPI setup off of a 90's 350. I know the heads are slightly, im almost sure that i can use these with older heads. I knowi have to like grind the bolt holes or something? What all do i have to do? Thanks in advance!

From about 86/87 on gm took the 4 center bolts on the manifold and tilted them up for better access. I would buy the heads as well, You will have to elonggate the hole to mach the heads and then you may not get a very good seal and the possability of oil leaking from the bolts. If you dont want to buy the heads you can look for a older TPI setup that will fit the older heads. Are you getting the computer, wiring harness and all the sensors as well.

Manifold bolt pattern didn't change until '96. In '96 Chevrolet went to the 4-bolt pattern on Vortec heads and intakes. The change in 87 was one-piece rear seal on the block. The only difference in heads from pre-'96 till '69 is center bolt valve covers.RAY

Is it an LT 1 setup? If it is, check out this link: www.lt1intake.com
In '87 later heads, the center intake bolts are at a 72* angle. You can use a drill bit to oblong the center holes to fit a standard head pattern.Last edited by camaro_fever68; 03-17-2006 at 12:23 AM.
