    Camshaft Installation

    I have a comp magnum 280h cam part #12-212-2.

    Gross valve lift 0.48
Duration at 0.006 tappet lift 280
    Valve timing at 0.006
    Intake open 34 close 66
    Exhaust open 74 close 26

I had this cam in my car last year it did fine, i spun a bearing and had to take the motor apart and now i'm back to putting the cam back in and i don't remember how the gear goes back in. Is it at 0, +4, or -4 ???..... And if it's + or - will the # 1 piston be at TDC? I put it on zero and lined it up dot to dot and it was bending pushrods.
    PLEASE HELP!

You're bending pushrods because the valve springs are stacked solid. Back off the nuts at the rockers that adjust lash.

They aren't tight at all, actually they were very loose... What really bothers me is it was bending pushrods... When i put the timing chain on the gears i have to get the #1 at TDC and then line the gears up dot to dot... would it matter if i was only a tooth or two off? would that make it bend rods? and does anyone know if i need to advance or retard the crank gear because of the size of my cam?

I have no idea what to do, and why it is bending rods... any suggestions?

O.K., if the springs aren't stacking solid, then the valves are hitting the pistons due to improper phasing at the cam gear.

When you are bending pushrods, SOMETHING IS STACKING SOLID and must be corrected.
