    Help with nitrous....

*Note: Please dont post if you have anything negative to say. Im looking for answers, not a fight.

My dad wants to try nitrous on our zz4 (In his 40 years of building cars, he's never used it) and he asked me to find out what would be the system to get.

Ill start with our engine specs (not sure what matters and what doesnt. Ask if you want more info)...

    SBC zz4
    4-71 blower 12% overdriven
    Predator carb
    234/244 @.050" Predator cam
8.5:1 compression ratio (I think its 13:1 with the blower)
    Sanderson zoomie headers

Were lookin to use one of the plate nitrous kits (inbetween the carb and intake) and is easy to install. He's lookin for a 100-150hp shot.

So, if anyone could recommend a system or two, I would be very grateful.

    Thanks

    for cheap- nos-07001nos
    for quality and affordability- nos-05001nos
and there is another company too. Cold fusion. You should check them out. VERY high quality stuff.

With that blower being overdriven like that it is probably creating alot of heat in the intake charge, and without an intercooler w/ 13:1 comp (with blower) the nitrous is going to do more for you by cooling off the intake charge, not by adding that much power. I would recommend the 100 shot. anything under that is hard to get the fuel to atomize correctly b/c of the low fuel velocity. Just make sure the timing is spot on and good luck.

My son and I ran Nitrous in his S/G 11.90 index Volkswagen last season for the first time. A 70HP shot was good for one half second off our ET by using it in third gear only. We ran a best of 11.11 ET by using a 70HP shot in second-third-forth gear. Like you, we needed someone or someplace to get us started in the correct direction with the selection of parts. I'm sure that there are many knowledgeable places around but you will not go wrong by contacting Nitrous Supply in Huntington Beach, Ca. The owner of this business originally started NOS company, and retired and sold it to Holley. He got bored and opened Nitrous Supply with some of his original employees and they really are a "no BS" company. They have run Nitrous on every kind of race car/boat/dragster/ETC you can name. We are very pleased with their advice, service, products. John Palmer
