    305 bolt on hp!

Ok so what all can be done to your basic 4bbl 305 chevy engine to get some extra hp's...

    I am installing a 600cfm 4bbl carb
    headers
2.5" exhaust with flowmasters (true duals)
K&N breather through circle and air flow top filter

is there anything else that can be done while I am getting it going to get a few exra hp's to the wheels?

Get rid of the stock heads and go with a bigger cam.

i would go for an edelbrock performer intake manifold. $130 should get you 10 hp, maybe more.

In my opinion, the single biggest improvements you can make to any car/truck is shorter rear gears and higher stall converter. You'll be doing that anyway, right?, to take full advantage of your new blower motor. Do it now and you'll think that 305 has turned into a much bigger motor. Headers and pipes will put a smile on your face too.

One really cheap mod that can pay big dividends it to recurve your distributor for quicker advance.

Oh and add a Tornado and one of those big wings on your trunk lid! And maybe a sponge Bob air freshener if there is room in the budget.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

    Good one Pat.

For instance, 10-12 initial at the crank, 24 centrifugal all in by 2,800 r's for a total of 34-36 depending on fuel quality.

Id use a smaller carb than a 600 on a stock 305, better off with a 500 cfm. John
