You won't need to up your compression with a blower, the blower will create a higher cylinder pressure anyway. If you want to keep it streetable you don't want to use a too big cam either (which could cut cyl pressure down again due to a longer/earlier overlap period). You might get good results for street use if you use a dual carb and only let the second on kick in at around 3/4 throttle. Then you can run round town on one carb and on the strip you've got two... What would the others think about this?
But then there's always the question of price... If you're on a tight budget a blower sometimes tends to need parts that fall out of your budget
