    305 rod bearings

Last 305, I tore it apart, threw all the old bearings and rings away and sent the heads to the machine shop. When I went to get parts nobody had the .005 rod bearings. I went to all the parts houses and 3 GM dealers. They all told me they didn't show a listing for that size. 10 thousand bearings plasti gauged to tight. Std plasti g boarder line. Ran the STD and it knocked when the oil got hot. Has anyone ever been able to find .005 305 rod bearings?

the only thing that i can think of off hand is that the engine maybe may have been manufactured in mexico, and the crank isn't right or the engine may have been line bored too far or maybe rod were resized wrong by someone. i'd just get new rods and crank after i checked the block to see if it's ok , good luck

used to you could buy up to .003 bearings, but i'm not sure you can do that anymore. you need to get your shaft turned and your rods fitted.
you could always use shim stock.
