Thats the thing, I haven't seen them yet, I'll find out sometime soon hopefully.
By the by would you rebuild them if they fit? and would running out of oil hurt the heads?
And if they are vortec's.. they'll probably be better than my perimeter style heads.. right? >_>

heres what i would do. get the casting numbers off the inside of the heads and on the front of the block .go to mortec.com and find youre numbers, then youll know exactly what you haveGLENN
you can do it if you know how it works

Crowbie,
Look at the truck. IF it is a 96 or later, the motor was a Vortec head motor if it was a 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton or won ton. The bigger stuff is uncertain. Like the other guys say, look at the valve cover bolts.....center bolt or perimeter bolt. If it is a Vortec (96 up with center bolts) the heads are worth saving but you should at least have a compentent shop do a wow job on them before installing the things on your vehicle....you dont know where that girl's been so dont take a chance. If it isnt a Vortec motor, are your current heads shot/worthless/ugly? What is the benefit of the swap?

Mike was a great guy with a lot of knowledge and always had good things to say. May he rest in peace. I hope he's up there playing with hot rods now as well.
