rollertips...307 (what?)
my neighbor (nice old guy) has some 1.6 rollertip rockers that i can get my hands on for a small amount of green...(this might seem dumb but i trust you guys) the question is can i keep all the other stuff stock and run these rockers on my stock 307 (pushrods, springs, etc). you think the 307 will handle it? (i am toying with this idea of new rockers to see if i can make this engine a little excitable, seeing as some are readily available) the rollertips seem to be for me because i want to run the stock valvecovers for the vintage look and full rollers would have clearance issues.Last edited by mellobud; 07-01-2006 at 11:40 PM.

They'll work just fine. Not much of a performance gain, main thing they do is reduce friction.... Performance improvements would be minimal on a stock engine.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

i really dont want performance...(excuse me "need it") i know that sounds blasphemous on these boards. anyway, i think they would add a slight amount of cool to my '68 307 and mid 80's 5-speed combo and since i can get them cheap; hell, why not? plus im gonna run a q-jet and marine 350 intake i have in my garage instead of the unrefined 2 barrel (not to mention some ceramic coated long tube headers on the exhaust end. also in the garage)...now you may say "gee, that sounds like he wants performance" but these are items i already have from other projects and if i didnt have them you know darn well i would use the stock parts. plus, my estimate of 220 hp from these items from the stock 200hp is hardly performance
btw, anyone want a 69 nova bench seat (no brackets) or a 250 l6 ( i have two) im in lower state scLast edited by mellobud; 07-02-2006 at 02:51 PM.

There is a thing or to you want to keep an eye on. You might have to open up your pushrod slots in your heads to give enough clearance so you pushrods won't rub. I am having this issue myself right now on my 350. heads are stock and with the 1.6's the pushrods are hitting the lower edge of the slot. Am gonna have to grind down the slot a little bit to keep them from rubbing. Good luck and happy wrenching!
Thank you Roger. .
