89, we can do a lot of guessing, but maybe you should start with a couple of basic items based on the info you've put up so far. You mention smell. Does it smell like antifreeze in any way? (assuming you've put coolant in it) Or does it have a sort of "sweet"/stale smell? Very hard to do this on line because your frame of reference may/probably is different than mine. Your comment about gasoline begs the question. Is the gasoline in the rig over 6 months old? If so, drain the whole system and put in fresh. Start over and see what happens. If the "smoke" persists, then there's a good chance it's a coolant leak. Don't just check the oil for water, check the coolant for oil (radiator). It's not likely cam lube would give you this condition.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

I assume that the shop who sold it to you sold it as a good engine.Did you check the torque on the heads?White smoke is usally coolent.Either a cracked head, block or a leaking head gasket.Did you get a warrenty?Go back to the man who sold it to you and have them help you figure it out.Chances are they want you to be happy with your purchase. It can't hurt. There's no such thing as a mistake, only more welding.

Could it be tranny fluid? I've seen where the vacuum modulator on the tranny has a broke diaphram which allows fluid to be sucked into the intake. Just a thought.

White Smoke Help
Aw comeon Streets , Give the kid a break, 10-1 his Girl Friend showed up and right now he's not thinkin about smoke, anyway I agree about the Modulator issue , been there and as I remember it it REALLY made lotsa smoke, in fact the neighbors wanted to contract me to patrol the streets in the evening for mosquitos. Seriously Try the Modulator, maybe borrow one off of a friends car with a "like" transmission , it'll be cheaper that way, besides he ( 891500) never really said if he's got a stick or auto, we're assuming auto, ASSUMING Streets ya know what that does AH ?skiball
