    Question SBC cam bearing orientation

    Hello,
I am rebuilding a 1965 283 SBC. The motor is completely disassembled and my question is the orientation of the last cam bearing (back of the motor). All of the other cam bearings have their holes ligned up with the holes in the block (with the crank mains) Let's call it the 6 O'clock position. The last cam bearing's hole is at the 1 O'clock position. There appears to be a groove in the block and I'd assume that's how this last cam journal gets it's oil. Meaning that the oil enters somewhere behind this bearing, travels through the groove and finally comes out the hole in the bearing. Is this correct? does the orintation of this last cam bearing matter?
    Thanks for any help,
    Kevin

    DennyW,
I am "assuming" it's a 360 degree hole but I don't know for sure. I just got the block back from the machine shop. Had the block tanked and new cam bearings pressed in. Is it typical for these SBC's to have a 360 degree groove? Have you seen less then 360 degree grooves? If so...in your experiance, where is the partial groove?

    Thanks for your help!.
    Kevin
