    307 stroker

I'm thinking of making a 307 stroker engine. This is what I'll be using... 307 block bored 30 over, 400 rods, and a 305 crank. I know the 350 has the same stroke, but the 305 will balance things better. It should come out to a 333ci. I have done all the math and have not found anything that shows that this will not work. What do you guys think? Will it work? Please don't tell me to just do a 350... I don't want to. EVERYONE has a 350... I want something different. Thanks

400 rods are 5.565 long as I remember which is shorter than the standard small block 5.7 inch long rod.

So, you are going to buy pistons for an odd compression height? The deck height on a normal small block is 9.025 inches. Therefore, with a "regular" 350, the pin to deck dimension is 9.025-5.7-(3.48/2)= 1.585

For your combo, you have 9.025-5.565-1.74=1.72

For a 327 "normal" engine, the dimension is 9.025-5.7-1.625=1.7 which is close but the bore on your engine would be 3.875 plus .030 = 3.905 which is not a 327 piston.

    For a 302 or a 283, the dimension is 9.025-5.7-1.5=1.825

Therefore, a 327 piston comes close but you will have the piston deck height wrong.
For the 400 rod, the journals are the same as the 350. The 305 crank is a wimp, dont know why you say it balances better......it is of a cheaper design with smaller counterweights.

This sounds more like an engine built from unwanted parts. Why not build a 350 and call it whatever you want? It looks the same from the outside so the "different than a 350" argument doesnt fly.....

The smaller counterweights is what I am after.

I would try to build this combo. with a 5.7 or 6.0 rod.
    Or I would just find a 350 block and build a 383.
