It ain't all the belt. Any farmer who ever ran a bin vac knows how a Rootes type blower howls. Even a Potvin drive moans.

The 177 blower will work but the belt set up makes me nervous.
I would save your money and buy a 6-71 for a few hundred more.

I couldn't agree more. Bang for the buck, you'll get better results with the 6-71.

Erik's right about the rods. If your budget allows, I'd buy a top notch steel rod and a good piston no matter what you do. Along /w those aluminum heads, a tougher piston and a stout rod will help any detonation problems because your motor won't go to pieces at the first sign of trouble.
