engine decode help tonite if possible

If someone could help me decode this motor tonite I would really apprecaite it. I am going to look at it tomorrow AM to purchase.

the number on the forward plate is:

    VI22143

other numbers on back of block on the drivers side is 3914678 and on the back pass. side is J277

This is supposed to be a 327 out of a 68 camaro.

What I really want to verify is if it is a 327 or not?

    Thanks in advance!

    here is mortec's decoding

    3914678....302.....68....2...Z-28 Camaro
    3914678....327.....68....2
    3914678....350.....68....2

could be ither 1, but a 302 would have DZ cast into the block. probably a 327, casting number is accurate for a '68 327 and that's what your told it was. have to be dumb luck to get a '68 350 with that casting number, just to trick sombody.

From the date codes J277 That block was cast on 27 Nov 1967. As car production for the 68 Camaro started in July 1967.

    V122143

V = flint engine plant 122143 is the partial vin...without the suffix we dont know what car or model it came from.
