Any idea what this engine is worth?
Sort of a long story, but the short version is I'm thinking of buying a car with an engine that doesn't fit into my plans. Here's what I know about the engine:
Small Block Chevy
383" Stroker
Supposedly 500HP
Aluminum heads
Roller rockers
MSD ignition
Mini hi torque starter
new Holley carb
Edelbrock manifold
Moroso valve covers and air cleaner
800 miles on engine, completed 2005
That's ALL I know. I know it's not much to go on, but does anyone have a neighborhood guess on what I may be able to ask for this? It will affect how much I'm willing to pay for the car.
By the way, the car also has a 4 speed automatic. What's that worth? Thanks to anyone who can hazard a rough guess to the above.

Lets assume it does - what would you think is a neighborhood number I could get for this thing?

It really is hard for me to answer that question without knowing more about the engine.

I saw a guy buy a Nova with a 400 in it. It ran 11.0 in the 1/4. He let it go for 2,000, but it sold super quick, prob could have got 3,000. Had Alluminum heads, sold it carb to pan.
Hard to buy one built already, has the crank been turned all the way? If it can't be turned any more and has been bored all the way: would not be much of a keeper.

You might get more if its installed in something they can test drive, after all some people just want a burning out motor,
Seriously the engine sounds like a good deal on a budget , have you decided on any price yet?

I second the 6000 new ,3000 after being run ,about 50 percent drop just from firing up and being run 500 to 50000 miles and if it looks used and dirty even less...not much resale price in used engines or parts unless its rare. Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
