cam advance
I can't find the post, but recently someone wanted to know why the cam grinders grind in some advance when they manufacture a cam. I just tripped over the answer while surfing the Isky site:
"most of our camshafts are ground from one to two cam degrees advanced to allow for eventual stretch in the timing chain."PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

Is this the thread?
So, if I wanted to install a cam "straight up" and was using a gear drive I should retard the cam 1 or 2 degrees?

Subtract intake lobe centerline from lobe separation angle to determine the amount of ground-in advance.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
