    Serpentine system for my 406

     



    Hey guys I've been looking around for some time and cannot find a nice serpentine for 500 or under. I see the billet ones for 1500, ect... Any of you guys know of a nice cheap one. All i need is power steering, and alternator

    I have a buddy that installed the G.M.performance parts deluxe kit from Summit racing. He sold the car but took the system off. Never even ran the car with the setup, he is looking to sell kit. It is the kit with air conditioner but I think he will let it go for a good price. Let me know if interested. Burt.

    I might be interested, but im really in need of one without A/C. Can that kit have it so you can just get rid of the ac, I seen the one your talking about on Jegs earlier today. I am basically trying to just eliminate any un neccesary accessories.

    My buddy says $350.00 plus shipping and it's yours. I would assume you could leave the a/c bracket out of the loop and just order a belt for the other kit. Burt.

    Take a look at the bracket in this EGAY ad.... pre-vortec (pre-96) Chev trucks (V8 and 4.3 sixes) had the alternator on the drivers side as I remember. You can sometimes buy the 4.3 six cyl stuff cheaper since folks dont realize that it is a 350 with two cylinders gone.

    You will have to rig up the tensioner and watch out for the balancer groove position.

    By the way, your water pump has to change if you go serpentine since the direction is wrong....and you will have a time trying to figure out the problem. AND your fan blade has to change too. Been there, done that. I've bought the bracket (single side) only for less than $40 on ebay.

    I walked over to my neighbor's and looked at his '97 Chevy truck with a sb V8 and it has the PS on the lower drivers side and the alt over pass side top, tension pulley on top drivers side, idler pulley lower pass side

    I might just dish out 550 at jegs to get the GM performance one without AC, as it includes the water pump, so thats all figured out no prob.
    With this swap im gonna try to swap it within a hour, and in my truck, i think it can happen! lol well maybe in 2 hours max.

    I bought a set of pulleys for $80, went to NAPA and bought a belt to fit.... And you guys keep telling me these Ford's are too expensive to work on!!!!!!

    you realize you get a brand new march performance billet aluminium serpentine kit for $489 and it keeps your standard rotation water pump so you wont even have to part that out
    just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

    I bought my setup at U-pull it for $60.00 with the alt, ac comp, p.s. pump, and air pump, and I bought a new water pump for $40.00 and it bolted right on!
    Now I'm changing it to not having the ac, and idler pulley, and for the alt to be above on the pass side, and ps pump lower drivers side, for another $35.00 because I don't need the alt, ps pump, only the brackets and bolts!
