I personally I wouldn't run aluminum rods on the street.

aluminum rods are great, but the good ol' cast rods will give you more miles.
Or so I've heard. I'd say to stay under a .5 lift. In my 305 I am running a .454 lift with 290 duration, and it is very lively, and still gets 18 MPH @ 80 MPH..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
