    383 blower mtr build?

I'm going to build a 383sbc and add a 671 blower. has anyone done this and have a combination that will work. I'm wanting about 800-900hp that is street freindly with occasional trips to the drag strip.

Richey, Nice ambition. Wanna fill us in on how much you're wanting to spend and what it's going in? It's very doable but at pricey setup. too many builders are achieving those numbers, it takes a couple of good sized shoe boxes of cash to do it though. Please fill us in on some more info for setup.

    It won't work.
The stock block sbc with splayed caps will only handle 675 to 700 hp.
When you hit 700 you should really look at a Dart or World products block.
800-900 hp won't be street freindly on any small block.
Due to the boost level to make this hp you are loking at race gas or meth. and an intercooler.
A O.E.M. big block will handle 800-900 when prepped the right way.
Yes, there are 800 + hp bbc that are a little streetable.

    I Have just finished building a 385 stroker ( 40 over 350 with 3.750 crank).
I went with 4 bolt main, eagle steel crank and 5.7 eagle rods. i used srp dished blower piston and with the dart pro1 215 72 cc heads it came out with about 8.1 to 1 compresion. running A doug herbert blower roller cam with 630 lift.
i installed a weiand 8-71 with 2 demon 750 blower carbs. still running the blower 14 % under making about 10-12 lbs boost.the car starts and runs great, idles fine in traffic. not sure of the horsepower, but i would guess about 700 right now. i have a snow performance methanal injection system i am going to install so i can run more boost and timing. the engine is in a tubbed out 76 chev elcamino. i have a turbo 400 with 3800 stall, ford 9 wihch is apart right now as i am swapping out the 6.00 gears for some 4.88.
as far as cost the engine cost about 12-13 grand canadian so far..

    I like it.
    I don't think you need a 4.88 gear.
I would think with all the torque and hp you would need a 4.10 or a 4.33 gear.
