Too weird. It should be opposite of what you stated and create an interference fit. We're gonna need some of the people on here tell you if they've run into that. All the Eagle cranks I've used were perfect for fit. Any galling in the balancer? (I know, dumb question) Hub on balancer not cracked or anything? Let's see what some feed back will bring up.

This is strange. I just installed a new balancer on my 350 Chevy, and it was a son of a gun to get pulled into place. I thought I was going to bust the grade 8 bolt I was using to slide it on. They gave me a crank saver in the box, but I didn't need it to shim it up, it was extremely tight.

Some of our Chevy guys will know, when they wake up tomorrow.

The correct fit should be 0.0005" to 0.0015" tight on the diameter for a steel damper.

One of your parts is out of spec; sorry I don't know the diameter specs but I hope it ain't the crank!

I did a little Google search, sounds like the crank measurement is within .005 of being correct. 1.246-1.248, you got 1.243. My guess is the balancer is wrong or worn?
