Lt1 383
I found this motor a lady has near where I live. She said it was her son's who was working on a project and has not done nothing with it. (1 1/2 ago.) SHE MAD AT HIM AND SHE WANTS IT OUT OF HER HOUSE. Yes, it's on a engine stand in one of her bedrooms...lol...This it the info. she has about it. It's a 383 stroker LT1 with 4340 steel crank, 4340 steel rods forged pistons , Lunati cam (not sure what size) 1.6 roller rockers. 42lb. ford injector 52x2 BBK throttle body. Engine orginally from 96 firebird. Motor has about 5K miles on it and has a 4160E tranny that goes with it.
Q. How much HP do you think the motor will have?
Q. How much it the motor worth?
Q. How much it the Tranny worth?
Thanks for the help before hand....

Tuff,
I have a LT1 out of a '95 'Vette in my Nova with basically the same setup but I comverted to a carb setup & I think mine has about 375-400 HP. Sounds like she really wants to get rid of it so I'd just ask her how much she wants to take it off her hands. It does seem a little strange she knows so much about it though. A quick call to a local junk yard mite give u a little range for value.
BoBPlease don't rub that rust off, I've worked so hard!!!

I think you did very well. Two Grand? Good job. What ever bugs you find, it's still correctable if you need to do some work on it.What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?
