camel hump heads
Just got back fron a local car show and was going through the flea market when I spied a set of camel hump heads from a 68 or 69 vette. They looked in great shape and I asked what he was selling thme for. How about $1,000. Now I know they were good heads back in their hey days but there's alot better flowing heads now. I guess someone might want them for a restoration on a car and want's it as stock , but still $1,000 seems high to me.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

I guess there's no way I'd pay that for 40+ year old technology!!!! A bit of shopping will buy you a nice set of heads, and an intake, carb, and distributor for a chebbie... Everybody's got a couple of them, used parts are cheap, new parts aren't that bad either.... IMO, pass on the double humps and leave them for one of the "numbers matching" types....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I have a set of the old double hump fuelie heads on my 350 (1968 variety) and while they are nice to look at and talk about, I would just as soon have a nice set of modern cast iron heads. My car was built the way that it is a long time ago (1989-90) and was previously used for racing before being converted to a street rod. Car is no longer raced, so it is all nice nostalgia with the fuelie heads, the Torker I intake, and the Cal Custom valve covers. Traditional rod, yeah, for the most part. Can it run.... sure, but not much anymore. Now in retirement and used mostly just for cruising.
$1,000 sounds to me like a total rip off by someone looking to make a fast buck. If you are not into nostalgia, look elsewhere.Bob

I agree on them being to high. I wasn't looking for them to buy, just happened to see them and if I could have piocked them up for $100-150, I might have, but not for 1 grand!Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

For $200 I bought, a 4 bolt main 350, Edelrock Performer Intake, a Crane Hyd Cam and a set of 1964 461 heads. I think he is a little high in price.

this is funny you guy think this is hi ? yes it may? but hell i did not see them ? there is better heads for the money BUT let say you buy a set of old hump casting for 250. now at with all new parts and machine work done by some one that knows his ass from a hole a the wall ?400.yes that would be nice but just no way in hell that happening . so this just show that you can easily put more money in them then a new set of casting would be .if the guy shop rate is 60.00 or more hour so how long will it take a set of whip out 20+ year old casting with all new parts and time $1000. ? if done right if some one needs the numbers they will pay that . i see old .125 bore over 427 block at the point of junk go on e-bay for over$800 with no work done and would easily take $1500 of machine work on top of the $800 and if shipped add that to it to just for numbers on a block???Last edited by pat mccarthy; 08-01-2007 at 10:11 PM.

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
