    RPM range

Why helloooo, clareise... jk whats up?

On heads, cams, and intakes, but especially cams, when they mention a rpm range is that the range that particullar part makes power? or is that the true limits of that one part? Example if one had a cam of 900-4800 rpm range and they took the engine up to 5500 rpm would they grenade the engine?

    Thanks,

    -Chris.

    Hey,nice T-Maxx.
It depends on what clearance's are built into the engine.
You may float valves and if they are out of the power band that far they are just losing horsepower.

Thanks, shes my baby. (just finished putting a tuned pipe on her, WHOOHOO!) ok ok, hmmm, so it all depends on the heads too and clearences I take? Just like ive heard, engine building is a rats nest full of compromises nothing is simple. but thats what makes it GREAT! Thanks. looks like I need to dive into this a little further.

Just remember everthing has to work together.
In other words let's say your intake pulls from idle to 5,500 but your cam has a 3,500 to 7,000 rpm power band.
This won't work and you will need to shop for a different intake.
This is what I mean by working together.

Makes perfect sence thanks! (again!! haha) so all the parts are working in the same powerband. yea for some reason I thought you wanted some parts for down low in the revs, some for mid, then some for high, but now analyzing that build it makes no sence. I was so confused with that mindset because I didn't know what part to start with! Thanks again, you guys really know how to explain things to a beginner.
