I have a 57 with a 283 that needs rebuilding. The machinist said that he may need to go .060 over to get rid of some pitting. I recently read that the 1957 283 has thin walls and should not be bored over .030. I talked to the machinist and he is convinced that .060 will not be a problem. Has anyone heard of the "thin wall" that I refered to? Does anyone know of a 283 from a 57 that is bored .060 over?
