    Are they worth it?

    Hey all,

Are belt drive timing sets worth the money? Because $800.00 is WAY WAY too much in my opinion. sure they reduce friction and i heard they last longer but what else? really worth $800.00

    Thanks,
    -CJP

i would consider a belt drive set strictly for racing. you would be surprised what people will pay to shave a few thousands off of an E.T. i thing they are more acurate for fine tuning also, another big bonus for a top bracket racer.

Definitely not the setup for a street engine! Drag racing only, then like Mooneye said it would have to be a case where you're looking for a hundredth of a second or two....

    Thanks guys!

Definitely makes sence to only have to use such a job for shaving your ET. Kinda like dry sump oiling systems huh? huge money for 20hp. what brand of timing setup do you guys recommend? I am eyeballing "Cloyes".

    Thanks again,
    -CJP

are there worth it?? it all depends i like them and use them alot easy to change cam timing or remove cams. the bad things is dirt, rocks from the road getting into it. i have seen them brake to and thats alot of broken parts if that happens..the price is off the chart to. but in some cases thats all you can use on tall deck engine.. mopars are very hard on timing chains so it leaves gear drives or belts. as for power i haven't see any power differents from chains.
