So does it look like I have saved any money or am I overspending on this build so far? 350 Forged piston/steel crank in summit looks like $2500 or so.

if i was u sell the heads and get updated heads like the vortecks heads or word products sr torkers they are all very good price and a hell a lot better than the old double humped heads ask anybody that knows heads.

That's not bad. It cost me over $2800 to have a short block done for my 383 four years ago. But that included almost $1300 for a new Eagle rotating assembly. But I had everything done--boring, align boring, decking, etc.

Heads were sold thats why there is a negative $100 on the cost. I subtracted the $100 from total cost. And yes I am going to get updated heads.
The junkyard has another motor just like the one I got before. Prob get it too for $150 and sell the heads for maybe $150 but i don't need another build unless someone else was interested. I would love to have the valve covers off it (sj 327). it has a set of holley alluminum fined valve covers that show definite age. They are flaking a bit but i think they would polish up ok. They have HOLLEY across the top of them. (they do not have any PCV or oil fill holes).
Nice, how did you get the curve in there?
