lets biuld a 406
heres were i am at . fresh 406 with 388997 heads with mild port work, 9.5-1 compresion .i would like to see 425-450 hp with trq about the same, i am going to buy cam intake headers , carb etc ... , what do you recomend?. i wasthinking comp extreme energy 246, holly 750 hp, victor jr intake, 2000 stall ,what you think ?. motor will go in chev swb truck , fiberglass hood, bumpers etc.. maybe 3500 lbs ,373 gears. also have a small plate system i may use. thanks wayne

Is this a Ford engine? It's the only engine I know of that's 406 ci.

997 heads were twins to the 993 heads with the exception of thin castings for the 997's. decent to work with as the 993's were consdered a counterpart tothe Brownfield's. 030 over bore gave it it's CID so what do you wish to do with this?Last edited by nitrowarrior; 10-19-2007 at 01:41 PM.

i want to use truck as one rank street truck that sits in garage most of the time. on saturday nite go out and beet up on ricers with my truck, also may go to 1/4 mile strip occasionaly. what about the combo i discribed? dont think i can go over 500 lift with the springs i haveif my wife asks it was only fifteen bucks

Those heads are holding you back. A good flowing set of aluminum heads (AFR, Brodix, Dart) would easily get you 450 hp with a streetable hydraulic cam around .480 lift and 230 degrees @ .050 duration.
