You would be better off getting SCAT or Eagle aftermarket I-beam rods. They are much stronger, come with ARP rod bolts, and don't cost any more than buying new rods from GM.

Is it possible to ask why "Pinks" are requested? Could be a class spec rule. Could be he's nostalgic.....let's give him an opportunity to tell us.....we all know there are better rods for extreme use but he did say for an affordable amount. What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?

FYI: Eagle, SCAT, and CAT are forged in China and machined here in the U.S. The finish on CAT stuff is not as good as Eagle or SCAT. Off shore or not, there are a lot of these used in street engines. I have an Eagle rotating assembly in my 383. But I would not use them in a racing engine. JMO . . .

Guess what?
They where very close to a several sets of heavy truck rods I had.
Every "run" of rods they make are a little different.
I am not going to say all rods are the same and they just put a "splash" of pink on them and send them out the door.

Eagle, Scat and Cat is forged in China but the steel is supplied from US.

it helps when the people forging the stuff actually give a crap about hot rods!

I have a union job, no diploma, my uncle got me this job and I have no idea what a hot rod is nor can I see the future as to Hot Rodding is going to need these rods....HHHmmmm. Scooter, are you having a rough day? What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?
