350 build, need more help
I was wondering if any of these top end kits would be a good start.

I priced out a lot of the AFR, Dart and COMP set ups that you guys suggested and they were getting pretty pricey!! Like I said before I want to put a Chev 350 into my Model A Rod, I'm looking for more lower end torque out of my '75 1/2 ton motor. I would like to use the original crank and rods, I'll get it bored and new pistons/rings (any suggestions here). One of the tech guys at summit suggested an Edelbrock top end kit and 600 carb (obviously for ease of tuning). I was thinking this one:

What else would I need if I were to go this route (besides a good manual ).
Thanks again,

valve spring compresser, piston ring compresser, piston ring pliers and get a burette for measuring volume in cc's. You can get them from most of the aftermarket retailers. Measure the combustion chambers of the heads before you buy the pistons. Before buying a whole set of dome/dish pistons, purchase a few close to the size (+/- a number of cc's) you need for the target compression ratio. Measure the volume of the top of the piston and pick which one works best before you buy the whole set.............
Also search the info on compression ratio, cam timing and clearance checks using clay. For a few extra dollars and some of your own labor there is a lot you can do to make the motor into what you PLAN it to be.Last edited by threearmsinjune; 11-29-2007 at 05:42 PM.

I'm starting to wonder if I should rethink this and start with a good cam and lifters, fresh bore and pistons, and go from there. I'll try to justify the AFR heads later . I was told there are some mods I have to do for a cam like the Comp XR264HR-10, is this a big undertaking??
I'm sooooo confused!!!!

What is the engine going into and what is the intended use? fuel? budget?

I found a '28 model T 2 door coupe, I'd like to keep the motor under $3000+-, not worried about fuel consumption. Just want torque and a good sound as well as somewhat reliable. Not planning on racing it but I would like to have some power.

try reposting this as a 350 build for a '28 model T. That should get the attention of the guys who have some experience with the particulars. What has worked well for them.......
Thank you Roger. .
