I think that is a real cool S/J build . And I did help a friend build a 327 by boring a 283 block to 4" and running a 327 S/J crank . That engine ran well and did not run hot .

The 283 blocks that can take the most over boring are the 1958 to 1962 blocks .

That's good because all the 1962 and later 283 blocks have reliefs cast into the lower end of the block where the barrels meet the block webbing . This allowed the use of the longer 3.25 stroke crank . So you can make your 302 a 327 COOL

I think that the original thing was a small journal crank in a large journal block, C&A makes the spacers, but there a little spendy.

Who is C&A? i've never heard of them the machinists and i thought nobody was making spacers for anything else but the chev 400 with a 350 crank.
