    Porting 5.7 Tpi Heads

Any one ever port a set of 5.7 TPI heads ? I have a set on a 1989 5.7 Chevy truck #14102193 . They are the pre-Vortec 76cc swirl port heads . I could only find this photos of a #193 that was pocket ported . The other photo is a stock pocket of the #193 . If any one has a better photo of the right way to port these TPI heads . Post it to this Thread Thanks

I ported a set of 4.3 heads several years ago that were the same type as your pic. They were a bit challenging, because of that swirl-like ramp on them. I had to get several different types of burrs, ball head, flame point, egg shaped, and a few other standard ones. The main thing was to be patient while doing it. I had to do a little with one bit, then swap bits and do a little more, and so on, and so on. It was worth it though! I had this in an 89 s-10, with a .030 overbore, k&n air filter, and a set of Edelbrock headers. Many people thought I had a v-8 in it.
    I ain't dumb, I just ain't been showed a whole lot!

Here is a 30-over 4.3 with ported heads that makes 301 HP . The 4.3 heads are like cut down #193 5.7 heads . COOL
