    Single Carb Hise Rise Question

     



    My 357 small block (in version 2) is going from 2.02 462's to 2.05 Canfield aluminums, (flowed), and the cam is going to .600" in the solid roller cam area. I found a vintage jewel today in the form of a Edelbrock TR1YX, single 4 tunnel ram. Will this make a killer addition to my ride over my old Tarantula?

    is that the old shoe box tunnel ram??? them were not to hot if so?? they also had a bad rep for blowing up .i have been told. i did see a box plenum that did . fuel laid in the plenum and K BOOM

    Meybe Ebay is a good place for it. Thanks Pat. But as long as we're yakking about it, is there a way to use epoxy to build up the low spots if any and help to make sure you don't have any puddling?

    I looked at the floor of this thing, and its really curved down from the center towards both ends, so there is absolutely no way gas can puddle here. I understand that was a prob with the very first ones, so I think we are gonna be safe. Here is a pic:

    I could be way wrong on this, but manifold technology has progressed so far from the days these were popular that it might be a backward step for you. If you are building a race engine you probably want it to perform to the max possible, so I would think one of todays manifolds would be a better choice.

    If you were building a period piece, like an old time gasser, that manifold would be super cool, but on a race only motor it might not give the results you are looking for,

    If you have to have the look, keep the ram and put port fuel injection in it. There are many places who would modify the intake for you.

    Total cost ~$3k though .......................

    My experience with them old puddle rams is that they work great.....betweend 6500 and 8500.... With all the good stuff on the market today don't think I'd bother with one of them unless nostalgia was the only reason for the build and practical performance on the street was not a consideration.....

    But it would look great all polished up and sitting on the shelf with the trophies, broken pistons, etc.......

    i would let the buyer decide that .i would list it in race parts just say hi rpm intake

    K, nuff said. its a gonner. thanks guys. There is one going on ebay for 212.00 right with 14 bids , so I'll let em know they have a second chance to own their own non performance delivering and possibly exploding hunk of aluminum. LOL. Staying with the old T-ranntula !!
