Carburetor Help
Hello I am a dummy when it comes to carbs. I have a 66 Impala with a SB283 and a 2bbl carb. Is their a preset on the air and fuel adjustments on the carb? I need to get the carb back to basics and then i will try to fine tune. I have somehow gotten the carb out of wack along with the idle. I live in Illinois so if anyone could help me I would appreciate it.

First, check for vacuum leaks.
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

you may want to check the base plate for the hell of it they are iron and the carb is pot metal the base plate gasket in time gets weak i had one not running to good going to work on the the idle and fuel mix adjustment put my one hand on it to lean in with a screw driver and the carb moved they are one of the best two barrel carbs to work onLast edited by pat mccarthy; 03-07-2008 at 11:25 PM.
